Costa Rica has a large number of waterfalls, each of which is surrounded by lush vegetation that makes it simply irresistible. All these waterfalls are beautiful and really worth the trip. It was tempting describing each one of them to prove the natural side and ecological wealth of the country. However, we present you the 10 which, by their spectacular beauty are on the list of the most impressive ones.

10. Llanos de Cortez

This waterfall is located in a small town called Bagaces in Guanacaste. It is just a 30-minute drive from the airport in Liberia. Although it ranks last on this list, its waters coming from 12 meters high and that are 15 meters wide are still impressive. They fall into a pool where visitors can swim.

9. La Paz

It’s a total of 5 waterfalls that make up La Paz. This quintet is located in La Paz Waterfall Gardens in Alajuela. The highest one, Magic Blanca, is 37 meters high. The place where they are is also home to some animal species (eg birds, insects, etc.). More than 2,500 visitors gave it 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor.

It is in Guanacaste, in the Rincon de la Vieja National Park that you can see this waterfall. Its falls, 40 meters high, drop into a natural pool whose water is darker than Rio Celeste’s. It is possible to swim there.

7. Nauyaca

It is one of the most spectacular in the country and attracts many visitors. It is composed of two levels, one measuring 42 meters high, and the other, 18 meters, for a total of 60. Nauyaca is undoubtedly one of the best waterfalls to swim. It is located in Puntarenas.

Located near Juan Santamaria Airport, just north of a town called Grecia, in the province of Alajuela. In fact, it is two waterfalls that are just 10 minutes walk from each other. The first, Caratara Zamora is 40 meters high, and the second, Caratara Prendas is 60 meters.

5. La Fortuna

To see this beautiful waterfall, you have to go to Arenal Volcano National Park, in a city of the same name. More precisely in the province of Alajuela. La Fortuna is 75 meters high and is fed by the Tenorio River and its falls drop into a basin with a blue-green water. A little more than 7800 visitors rated it 4.5/5 via TripAdvisor.

4. Bajos Del Toro

This jewel is in the province of Alajuela, in a town called Valverde Vega. Considered to be one of the highest in the country, it is 90 meters high. Tourists gasp at the sight of this waterfall and highly recommend it after visiting it. They give it 4.5/5 via TripAdvisor.

3. Viento Fresco

This set of 4 waterfalls is located halfway between the cities of Monteverde (Puntarenas) and La Fortuna (Alajuela), but is slightly closer to the Fortuna. Each waterfall has a different height: 20, 31, 75 and 95 meters. There is a path that leads tourists to the waterfalls one after the other.

Also called Manantial de Agua Viva (Spring Living Water), it is hidden in a canyon located 45 minutes drive north of the city of Jaco. With its 180 meters high, this waterfall amazes all tourists who visit it. The view it offers is simply masterful.

1. Rio Celeste

It is the Tenorio Volcano National Park in Guanacaste that has the honor of housing the number 1 of this list. Although it is not the highest of the country with its 90 meters, it is the color of the water of its basin which propels it to the first place.
